$13M for 3 Years of Freedom

You guys know AT&T right?

AT&T Inc. is an American multinational telecommunications corporation, headquartered at Whitacre Tower in downtown Dallas, Texas. AT&T is the second largest provider of mobile telephone and the largest provider of fixed telephone in the United States, and also provides broadband subscription television services.

In 2011, AT&T is hacked. AT&T's alert says "We recently detected an organized and systematic attempt to obtain information on a number of AT&T customer accounts, including yours. We do not believe that the perpetrators of this attack obtained access to your online account or any of the information contained in that account." Luckily, The Big Blue Ball claims only 1 percent of its customers were attacked—but 1 percent of millions is a lot of people.

Now, the hacker Andrew 'weev' Auernheimer, whose struggles with federal prosecutors have fueled calls for reforming the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA), wants the government to pay him $13 million for taking away his freedom for the past three years in jail.
